abstract

in this research, the appropriateness of drainmod-n model was evaluated for the simulation of nitrate transport with subsurface drainage in paddy fields. during a canola growing season from november 2011 to april 2012, the nitrate concentration of drainage water and soil saturation extracts of two depths of 30 and 60 cm was measured in consolidated paddy fields of sari agricultural sciences and natural resources university. drainage treatments included: three conventional subsurface drainage systems with mineral envelope including drainage system with drain depth of 0.9 m and drain spacing of 30 m (d0.9l30s), drain depth of 0.65 m and drain spacing of 30 m (d0.65l30s), and drain depth of 0.65 m and drain spacing of 15 m (d0.65l15s) and a conventional subsurface drainage system with artificial envelope with drain depth of 0.65 m and drain spacing of 15 m (d0.65l15f). the model was calibrated by adjusting nitrification and denitrification coefficients. in order to test the model results, five statistical indices including model efficiency (ef), percent error (pe), coefficient of determination (r2), root mean square error (rmse), and average deviation (ad) were used. the values of ef, pe, r2, rmse, and ad were, respectively, 0.71, 2.66, 0.72, 0.94, and 0.56 for the calibration phase. based on the results, the drainmod-n model performed well for nitrate loss simulation in the calibration phase, but at validation phase the values of ef, pe, r2, rmse, and ad were, 0.12, -19.89, 0.851/01 and 0.56 respectively, which was from the weak simulation accuracy.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Measurement of Vertical Water Percolation Through Different Soil Textures of Paddy Field During Rice Growth Season

The water percolation loss beyond root zone in the soil is one of the important parameters to determine water requirement of rice plant. If the amount of water percolation rate into the soil is estimated more carefully, determination of water requirement will be evaluated better and designing for system of irrigation, drainage and related establishments will be more easily done. The purpose of ...

Isotopes for improved management of nitrate pollution in aqueous resources: review of surface water field studies.

BACKGROUND Environmental agencies have to take measures to either reduce discharges and emissions of nitrate or to remediate nitrate-polluted water bodies where the nitrate concentrations exceed threshold values. Isotope data can support the identification of nitrate pollution sources and natural attenuation processes of nitrate. REVIEW This review article gives an overview of the information...

واسنجی آب‌شویی نیترات و نوسانات سطح ایستابی در زمین‌های شالیزاری با استفاده از نرم‌افزار DRAINMOD-N

Fertilizers in agriculture are potential sources of environmental pollution, especially in ground water quality and soil resources. Studying factors effective in water and nutrient transport through soil profile is helpful for nutrient management to minimize adverse impacts on environment and nitrate leaching below the root zone. In this study, the ground water level and nitrate leaching transp...
